| Travel Insurance As much as some travelers plan and anticipate every possible need for their trips, unexpected events can, and do, happen when traveling. And while travel insurance can't keep the rain or cold from dampening your spirits on a tour, it can save major out-of-pocket expenses – and your life, if you need to cancel your trip or experience a medical emergency when you're far from home. Over the past years, travel insurance providers have developed a wide variety of niche and customized products for virtually every type of international and domestic travel, including student tours. Among all the different plans available, which one is the best? After much research, MPO recommends the 6 plans that you can find in the form called Insurance Plans (PDF). In this form, you will find two types of Insurance - one we call Regular Travel Insurance which includes the Deluxe All Inclusive Plan, Deluxe Trip Cancellation Plan and the Medical Plan. For the Policy of these plans, click here - Regular Insurance Policy (PDF). The other type of Insurance we call the School Board Ruling Travel Insurance which includes the All Inclusive Plan 4, Cancellation Plan 2 and the Medical Pan 1. For the Policy of these plans, click here - School Board Policy (PDF). By using this table, you can easy compare each product and the cost. The main difference between these two types of insurance is their upper limits and small differences in what is covered. We do recommend that anyone traveling purchase travel insurance because you could find yourself facing significant medical bills if there is a medical emergency while on the trip. You could lose the money put forth in prepaid, nonrefundable airline tickets or deposits. Travel insurance is designed to make travel a worry-free experience and should be a serious consideration for even for the most experienced traveler. Some plans even cover baggage costs or cancellation costs. If you decide not to purchase insurance, we ask that you sign the Travel Insurance Waiver form (PDF) and give it to the responsible person who is in charge of the trip or send a copy to MPO by fax (613-636-0400) or e-mail (info@mpoeduc.com) with the name of the School and trip number on the form. You then keep a copy of this document as proof that you have declined the insurance. A legal guardian needs to be the one that signs the form.
